Doctor of Physical Therapy

From a young age, Emily was interested in the body, movement, and an active lifestyle. She grew up dancing competitively from age 6 through 18 and practiced ballet, tap, jazz and modern dance, and also rode horses hunter-jumper style as a teenager. Emily lived in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey before attending New York University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology in 2007. She then continued on to the graduate program there, achieving a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2010. Upon completion, she worked for several years in large private practice clinics and was promoted to a clinical directorship, until May 2016 when she left that position to treat patients independently. She has experience treating orthopedic diagnoses from the temporomandibular joint (jaw) to the metatarsals (feet and toes). She treats both surgical and non-surgical cases, and previously worked with the pediatric population. Continuing education coursework includes Maitland manual therapy courses and Institute of Physical Arts core training and PNF strategies, amongst others. Emily feels working as a physical therapist is truly her calling because she loves collaborating with her patients to work towards their goals through an individualized treatment program, and feels like every day that she works she learns something new. She feels she could study the human body and all its unique abilities for the rest of her life!

Emily is also a yoga teacher, currently teaching three regular classes per week at Warrior Bridge studio in the South Street Seaport district, where she also teaches a series of anatomy workshops for instructors and co-teaches Acroyoga/partner acrobatics with Sean Langhaus. Her yoga practice influences her clinical practice, which always includes elements of breathing and body awareness. She is currently obsessed with Acroyoga/partner acrobatics, which has origins in gymnastics and yoga. She also practices Ashtanga, Rocket and Bikram yoga, and strength trains regularly. She lives in NYC with her dog Stella, and her cat Scout, and is totally in love with New York City.
